Old Memories
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful I stayed in Old Goa for over 24 years and have spent all my childhood in the lovely gardens of the church complex. Old Goa having over 9 churches, this one was my most favorite. I still remember how we used to play and have fun and at the same time attend mass on Sundays..This church is unique..it is just so..so...peaceful ..its impossible to explain. You can just keep on sitting in the church or on the grass lawns and keep staring at this basilica and not get bored / tired. However, excessive tourism is killing all its beauty quietly...I remember many trees were cut down to create parking space..and a commercial tourist complex, many shops selling merchandise near church, and tourists littering around and disturbing the religious functions going on inside...!! nevertheless, this basilica made out of limestone and laterite bricks is the most beautiful churches I have seen till date. Viva Goa!! User Review

A Serene Place
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful I love to visit old Goa. The Basilica is the most beautiful church in Goa in my opinion as the mortal remains of st. Francis Xavier are laid to rest here.Besides having a complete spiritual feel, one can also catch a glimpse of history at the same time as well. Truly a spiritual place you cannot miss. User Review

wonderfull light show
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful Every year in December many people from all around the world visit Goa for St. Francis Xavier Novena's or for the Feast. We also had visited during the novenas. There was a long line in order to visit the tomb of St. Francis Xavier. We had to wait for a couple of hours just to get glimpse of the tomb. The saint’s body is preserved in a silver casket. The Church is attached with an art gallery house. The church also organizes a light show based on the life of Jesus Christ, Blessed Joseph Vaz and St. Francis Xavier. I would recommend everyone to go for the light show. User Review
